Nestled deep inside the Great Northwood's regions
of Northern New Hampshire Colebrook has lush and
beautiful sights to relax and unwind from long and
exhausting weeks. Come and enjoy all the sights and
plentiful activities nature provides for your enjoyment.
COLEBROOK at the junction of the Connecticut and Mohawk Rivers, is the hub of
the North Country. Its western view is dominated by Vermont's Mt. Monadnock,
which has at times echoed to the war cries of the Indian and the songs and lusty
brawls of the lumberjack. The last of the great log drives are part of its history.
Roads from Maine, Vermont, New York, Montreal and Quebec all converge here with
the eastern approach to the town through famous Dixville Notch by Lake Gloriette.
Although a frontier town, Colebrook provides a modern shopping center with restaurants,
garages, a library, churches and banks. A small airport serves the needs of private
aircraft and a commercial airport is 40 miles away. |

Spring brings the return of numerous species of
birds and wild life such as moose, deer, bear, fox, rabbit
and loon. Summer is open to hiking, fishing, 4 wheeling across
the country side or just spending lazy days enjoying the
warmth of the sun and nature at its best. This land of lakes
and streams offers the finest trout and salmon fishing to
be found in New England. Fall brings a kaleidoscope of colors
with its bracingly cool, yet sunny days and frosty nights.
Winter in the North Country is seldom experienced without
the presence of snowmobiles. There are almost 800 miles of
groomed trails from Lancaster north to the Canadian Border.
If exploring the many trails on foot, ATV, or snowmobile
or just enjoying the wonders of nature is what you like,
then the North Country is the place to be. |
